Online Comic Shops

There are many websites dedicated to buying comics online, but what are the best places? What are some of the top online comic shops? I ran a poll in the I Love Comic Book Stuff group to find out where our members buy their comics online, and what shops they trust the most. Here is what I found

1. MyComicShop.com

My Comic Shop  comes in at an easy top choice among comic collectors. They have been around since 1961 and have one of the largest selections of both new and back issue comics. They carry a wide selection of Trades (TPBs), Statues, Art, & more

Preorder Discount: Comics: 35%; Graphic novels: 30%; most other items: 10%

Shipping Charge: US: $5 flat rate on all orders through USPS

Subscriptions: YES

They also offer a Subscription Piggyback, meaning that if you have a subscription, and make an additional order, they will offer to ship your new order with your normal subscription package at no extra shipping cost.

2. Midtown Comics

If you’re looking for it, Midtown Comics probably has it. They have a large selection of New Release comic books, back issues, Graphic Novels, Books, Manga, Statues, Figures, Shirts, and all kinds of other collectibles.

Preorder Discount: Comics: UP TO 50%, (35% is more common)

Shipping: Depends on your order, and the method you pick. Free shipping on orders over $75.

Subscriptions: YES

3. Ebay

Ebay isn’t exactly an online comic shop, but most comic shops also sell their inventory on ebay. There are a ton of individual sellers who are constantly posting new books up for sale as well. So with a simple search, you can find the best deal on a comic that suits your need or budget. Sometimes, if you get lucky, you can snag an awesome deal in an ebay auction.

Since you are buying from individuals which you probably don’t know, be sure to take caution when buying off of ebay. (CLICK HERE for our Guide to Buying Comics on Ebay.)

Quick Ebay To Do List

  • Look at all pictures as closely as possible, inspecting them for flaws, defects, and accuracy. Don’t be afraid to ask for more if needed.
  • Make sure the seller has a high feedback score and lots of it.
  • Check to see if the seller sells comics regularly.
  • Ask the seller any questions you may have.
  • Take a note of how the seller ships your comic. Ask if you need to.
  • Make sure you know what you’re bidding on.
  • When bidding, set a price you are comfortable with and don’t go over.
  • Check the sold listings of that book to see what the book is going for.

4. The Comic Mint

The Comic Mint is another top online comic shop among comic collectors. The Comic Mint focuses around Exclusive Cover variants, but they do offer a small variety other things including statues, action figures, books and more.

5. Amazon

Like Ebay, Amazon isn’t a comic shop. Even though you can buy them there, it’s also not a very popular place for buying single issue comics. It is however a great place to buy new and used TPB/Graphic Novels. Most graphic novels on Amazon have an option to buy them New, Used, or Digital. If you are just wanting to pick the books up to read, then the Used option is a great way to go. Some graphic Novels can be as low as one or two dollars.

Other places to buy

Online comic shops aren’t the only places to buy comics online. Both Facebook and Instagram have places that you can go to buy comics. Whether its in a raffle (waffle) or in an online auction.

Facebook has a ton of BST (Buy Sell Trade ) groups where you can buy all kinds of comics right out. To see a list of some of these groups CLICK HERE.

Some users on Instagram host auctions on their profiles. I’ve personally never done this, but I will definitely look into this more in the future.
